Recreation in Burwash

The Burwash area offers a wide range of recreational opportunities.

Because of the proximity to Sudbury, the area is close and suitable for families with small children who want a natural area for a picnic and for schools looking for a natural science and environment classroom.

Off-Road

There are several gravel roads in the Burwash area suitable to bicycling, 4x4 off-road vehicle, or hiking.

Rod and Gun

The local lakes and creeks offer fishing through out the year.

The open grasslands, wetlands, mixed forest, and remote road systems provide a range of habitat in which deer, moose, grouse, ducks, and other game occur.

Hiking, Jogging, Orienteering

Although there are no marked trails, the Burwash area is ideal for hiking, jogging, and orienteering through the forest, along old roads, along the Wanapitei River, over the rolling, but rocky areas of the Precambrian Shield, or through the open grasslands.

There is a range of landscapes suitable for young and mature.

Photography and Painting

There are many vistas to appeal to the photographer through all four seasons.
