The Citizens Advisory Group for Burwash Ontario served as one voice and as an umbrella group for all who have an interest in the use of the Burwash lands.

The Burwash lands are located approximately 40 km south of Sudbury Ontario.

Burwash was the site of an industrial farm established in 1913 and closed in 1974.

Our Goal - Citizens Advisory Group for Burwash:

The mandate of the Citizens Advisory Group for Burwash was to establish, facilitate, or co-ordinate new and existing groups with an interest in the Burwash lands as well as to monitor, advise, or co-manage land-uses of the Burwash area that would be beneficial to the general public and to the history and heritage of Northern Ontario.  The Citizens Advisory Group for Burwash served as one voice and as an umbrella group for all who have an interest in the use of the Burwash lands.

Burwash - a very special place.

Human activity has impacted the Burwash lands, including the industrial farm (known commonly as a prison), road and dyke construction, forestry/tree planting, farming, introduction of exotic, decorative and crop plants and unusual wildlife like elk, wild turkey and trumpeter swans. It is the legacy of  these activities that make Burwash very special.
